Christmas Tree Skirt tutorial
Finished skirt size 50.5"x50.5" square
Materials needed:
1/2 yard green material
1/2 yard white print material
1 1/2 yards solid white material
1/4 yard brown material
1/2 yard red material
1 1/2 yards blue material
(material shown is Figgy Pudding by Moda)
Start by:
Cut your red, green, brown and white print materials into 2 1/2"x width strips. Sew together like the picture above.
Cut those strip sets into 2.5" strips.
For your center block you will need a 6.5" square of white fabric. Sew the 2.5" blocks around the outside to create a border.
From your white material you will cut all of the remaining material into 1.5" strips.
You will attach this material as the next border.
As shown in the picture above. Repeat on all four sides.
Make sure to measure, cut and pin your borders to ensure that your tree skirt will lay properly.
Now add a 2.5" blue border.
Add another white 1.5" border.
Now add a block border.
Add another white 1.5" border.

Quilt your tree skirt.
After the skirt is quilted cut a circle in the center. We used a roll of tape as a template however things like soup bowls work very well too!
Cut a straight line as shown in the image above.
Bind with red material and add ties to the back of the circle.
Put under your Christmas Tree and enjoy!
I love this tree skirt because it's washable and perfect to make from your scraps!
Enjoy! Happy Holidays from Piece N Quilt!

This is adorable!
great tutorial. thanks.
Very Neat idea. I have put off for years making a tree skirt. Maybe I will get motivated after looking at your skirt.
Such a great tutorial. I love it. Thanks for sharing with us.
I love your tree skirt. Thanks for the wonderful tutorial.
Great tute! I love all the borders :)
Thanks for the tutorial! I have some beautiful Christmas fabrics and couldn't decide on what to do with them. Voila! I'm also a new quilter and this will be a good project for me to work on!
Wow! This is a really beautiful and wonderful tutorial! I would be sad to cover such a lovely tree skirt with presents under the tree! I've been using a large piece of scalloped felt for a tree skirt since I don't mind covering it up and getting dirty with pine needles. I'd love to make a pretty tree skirt like yours for Christmas this year!
This is gorgeous. I featured this at somedaycrafts.blogspot.com Grab my 'freatured' button.
